There are plenty of opportunities to dance, listen to music and enjoy local arts this weekend in Guilford County.
For First Friday this month, join guest instructor and DJ Luis De La Cruz for a basic bachata lesson.
The lesson, which starts at 6:30 p.m., is followed by a social dance at 7:15 p.m. at LeBauer Park in downtown Greensboro.
The dance lesson is part of “Noches Latinas at the Park,” where the basic moves of various Latin rhythms are taught on the first Friday of each month from June to November.
The fifth annual North Carolina Comedy Festival brings about 250 stand-up comedians and improv artists to the Triad starting today.
The festival will present more than 50 shows through Sept. 11 There are several venues, including host site The Idiot Box.
The bevy of talent performing includes comedian Jennie Stencel, who founded The Idiot Box. The headliner is Myq Kaplan, who has appeared on the “The Tonight Show,” “Conan” and “America’s Got Talent,” according to his website. He also has a one-hour standup special on Amazon called “Small, Dork and Handsome.”

Here’s a chance to get your groove on. National Dance Day is Sept. 17, and everyone is invited to learn a dance to perform that day.
The first rehearsal is 6 p.m. tonight in Market Square at LeBauer Park in downtown Greensboro. There will be another chance to practice on Sept. 16 before the “flash mob” performance at 4 p.m. on Sept. 17.
Dance Project instructor Tabia McKinzie will lead rehearsals. This year’s song is “Vibration” by Fireboy.

After a series of pop-up performances, this weekend is the premiere of “Passages: An Homage to Our ‘Extra’ordinary Lives” by the Activate Entertainment Project.
“Immerse yourself in the mundane made magical as stories of childhood, change and connection are brought to life through circus arts, dance, music and more,” according to the group.
There will be two free, 45-minute performances at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday in LeBauer Park. It’s the culmination of a five-month artist residency at the downtown parks by the local circus performance company.
